J. JS Lee AW 13/14

I've never encountered garments so simple but yet so well thought out. Clearly having a thing for exaggerated proportions, lee is able to portray a more playful side to her collection.
Her along with only a handful of other designers are able to make intentionally made oversized clothing became ironically chic. Who though 'chic' could be ironic? This has secured her position, in my books, as a designer to watch.

Maria Grachvogel A/W 14

Known for her utilisation of the most fluid fabrics and stellar prints, her strategy makes for some stand out pieces as you will see below. She is truly an artist.
Digitally printed forestry on ridiculously flowy chiffon has emerged as the designers staple in more recent seasons.
Using prints of a somewhat arcane nature, her work is slightly more interesting every season as she is able to relay mysterious themes such as 'Death in nature' successfully.

Woolmark Prize at LFW

Being naturally fascinated by the innovation of fabrics and creative new ways with which designers work with its kinds, I couldn't have been more excited for Woolmark. Some would say that giving several designers opportunities to showcase their work to the elite media regardless of their origin is a golden ticket to almost instant success.
Judged by Franca Sozazzini, Victoria Beckham, Diane Von Furstenberg, Tim Blanks and Donatella Versace, Woolmark is definitely recognised and appreciated by the cream of the crop.
A little bit of friendly fashion rivalry never hurt nobody.

Felder Felder AW 13/14

The conscious decision to use a big birded silhouette on a woman cannot usually be pulled off tastefully by most designers. Hats of to the Felder sisters, designer duo who showcased an extremely versatile collection on Friday. As the models walked down the runway, I could sense an attempt at targeting several types of women from different backgrounds; or better still one woman who embraces her kick ass identitiy crisis. In the past, I would have said the Felder Felder aesthetic was mainly 'Sexy-it-girl', but this collection proves this girl might be growing up. We see longer hemlines, sharper tailoring and a less subtle touch of elegance.

David Koma AW 13/14

There is something about high neck, strongly structured and voluptuous collars that gives a very obvious 'woman in power' aesthetic. Juxtaposed with with the odd candy coloured fabric and girly A-line silhouettes perhaps for a more feminine contrast.
One could very easily get lost in all the detailing. Ribbed ascents on leathers and what appears to be scuba fabric, innovation and a very 'back to the future' theme are in play. In other words, there are lots of futuristic elements.

London Collections: As seen on the streets

The response with regards to statistics after posting about menswear last week made it clear that you guys do like a bit of manspiration. As you may or may not know, during fashion week I like to play around with a bit of street style because I really do think thats where most of the fun lies. It's always great to capture a womans character through her clothing

Whatever a woman can do, a man can do just as good so as the world’s most fashionable men make an appearance in the capital we take a look back at the street style stars of the second London Collections: Men and the trends that got everyone talking.

Colour and print
Be it Ikat, camouflage or neon brights, Londoners have never been afraid to clash colour and print. Jonathan Saunders and Paul Smith both brought the trend to life on the catwalks but its going strong on the streets too.

Statement shoes
High-vis trainers or studded brogues: whichever way you go, statement footwear is the order of the day this season. For the flashiest style and designer shoes, think Alexander McQueen, Anthony Miles and Nike.

Boyish backpacks
While man bags and pouches are on the up, the backpack still rules when it comes to street-wise style. Herschel is the go to-brand for cool and casual styles or check out Mulberry for a more classic, more office-appropriate carryalls.

More Street style

Don't worry, I'm not going to give another speech about the style choices of my generation this time. More great and genuine street style, Enjoy!

Fashion Fringe

For those who don't know, Fashion Fringe is usually the last show on the LFW schedule which exhibits what I could essentially call the rising talent of the London Fashion Scene.  It was founded in 2004 by Colin McDowell in a collaboration with IMG Fashion to support emerging designers in London to keep them local to London! Designers such as Corrie Nielsen, Jena Theo, Erdem, Basso & Brooke and Aminaka Wilmont have all benefited greatly from being past winners.
This year it showcased 3 designers of which the best man won! Haizhen Wang is his name and you should expect to see it more and more in the fashion books.
Wang's bold but wearable designs were the strongest of the lost which Is why I felt he deserved the win. They are all very talented but I feel like more people could relate with him because as well as  being the most detailed of the lot, he is also bang on trend with the somewhat military somewhat androgynous aesthetic he's got going on.

Backstage at Jena Theo

There are some shows that I have to be at every season, and Jena Theo is one of them. I have a more emotional attachment to the brand as a whole and I'm not sure why. It might be that it was one of my first shows at LFW a few years back or that the pieces are just the most suited to my style of all the collections I see every season.
I'll be posting the proper catwalk presentation later this week so I won't give a proper review now. Like I said previously, botanics and nature seem to be the order of the S/S season which I cant wait for. Who doesn't love a bit of  floral goodness. The design duo were also able to infuse such a day time and playful theme being flowers into their evening wear as you can see in the still above. Dresses like that are the reason I live and anyone who knows me, can testify to that. Beading, exquisite embroidery, fluidity and simplicity all in one; I need it!

My outfit at LFW day 2

Its a highly awkward situation wearing a MIDDLE high slit dress on a windy day. Its even more awkward when I remember only at the end of the day, that there are clips on the dress which are meant to prevent any 'accidental displays'.  I guess not that many people had to see my underwear then. I'll be sure to use them next time.

Dress from Virgoslounge.

Jean Pierre Braganza

Scattered but prim are the words that come to mind while looking at this pictures. Braganza has a way of roughening the most elegant and neatest of looks in order to put his own stamp on it. The literally edgy prints with the knife like edges, bold colours and sharply cut pieces all have a part to play in the almost disfigured aesthetic but has an appeal to it.

Bora Aksu

Based on my reviews and what I've notcied, it seems like Botanical themes are big on designers this season. I mean, It only makes sense being Spring/Summer and all. The blooming flowers and all  the natural stuff seems like the most natural way to go, (No pun intended) but Aksu seems to have a darker aesthetic which makes such a frequently used theme such as the floral, out of the ordinary.  This collection reminds me of a somewhat dark and mysterious but beautiful fairy. Aksu's collection is based on a British Aristocrat and this time I'm not guessing like I usually do, because he said it himself!

Corrie Nielsen

In my own little dreamy world, I would have loved this show to go on forever with its infusion of nature and Corrie's trademark sculptural pieces. There also seemed to be an essence of the early 1900's. Flowers and corseted dresses with hints of sheer and softly coloured alongside neutral hues. Although most pieces would be classed as unwearable in most peoples books, Nielsen's creations are a form of art which you can't help but notice the character and story line behind the pieces.

Antoni & Alison

At the opening show of the LFW season, celebration was in order for it was the 25th anniversary of the design duos career together. Of course, we all know that no celebration of Antoni and Alison is complete without some bursts of colour, loudness, and a marching band. Yes, there was a marching band parading at the runway show. With all that, I was fascinated, but what caught my eye the most was the fluidity and effortlessness of EVERYTHING! All the dresses seemed to just sail past me in a very peaceful but vibrant manner almost like they were saying to us "Yes, its a celebration, and yes, we are beautiful creations, please step aside." Lots of bold, water colour, childlike prints but blended with such mature styles gave the collection a balance which take a great amount of skill and experience in the industry to create. I guess 25 years is no joke! I was certainly in awe by the end of the show and I cannot wait for next season.

PEOPLE

At Fashion week, you can always tell the people who've got genuine character and the ones who get dressed up just to be photographed. The latter can be very ridiculous and I'm not fascinated by them in any way whatsoever. This year, I missed 2 shows because of street style photographing and it was worth it in every way. In every interview I've ever done, I've always pointed out that people give me some sort of inspiration be it via casually watching them, other personal style bloggers and/or street style. Its the most genuine and most natural form of fashion that there is left as everything has become so commercial, one directional and so fricking icy. I'm more into the art of assembling the day to day outfits and not the labels. I guess I could say I almost hate labels these days because it seems to be the driving force of this generations style choices. I can't wait till people want a pair of shoes because it suits their character and not because they are Margiela's or because kanye thinks its cool. I can't wait till people get their minds back. I feel like we need to wake up really. I'll stop ranting now. Check these real people out. P.S. I'll start posting about all the shows I went to tomorrow. I can't wait for yall to see em!

LFW Outfit Day 1

I'm always hella late with the Fashion week pictures and I know its a bit annoying, but it takes me aaaaaages to pick out the best ones. I could literally stare at pictures for days before picking out the 'perfect' picture. I guess its something I just have to learn how to get better at, but give me time :)

I didn't want anything uncomfortable, but I'm all about the extravagance so you know I had to wear Virgoslounge. (No one does it better)

I'm loving Olivia from 'Fashion somebody's' intense look behind me. She's such a darling and we hung out a lot that day. Lauren who I've also hung out with this season was standing right behind me. You can probably just about see her legs. I'll be posting pictures of all my Fashion Week Friends soon. They've all bee so lovely.

Outfit-
Zara Slip
VirgosLounge Blazer (Not out till november(Party collection))
YSL bag
Ebay shoes

P.S 1. Look, I dont know what is causing my skin to look all burnt and baked but i'm really nat feeling it. I blame the sun to be honest,  Or the photographers. Yes, all their cameras were bad, its not my face at all. x_x Even my camera is of poor quality.
P.S 2 I know I've worn these shoes at least once for the past 3 season without fail, but they are the most comfortable shoes I have so don't judge. I'll try not to wear them again next time. Hopefully I become rich overnight and get the pair of Givenchy boots I've been talking about. People have given enough designers credit for the shoes (i.e. Balenciaga /Sam Edelman) NO, all credit goes to Ebay. Thanks on their behalf though. I'm sure they'll be flattered. LOL...

Phoebie English

My first ever Phoebie English show was last season, and of course I gushed on and on about how much I was obsessed. Check it out here. It would be an understatement to say I've fallen in love with her talent all over again this season, but for different reasons. Let me explain. 1, shes a rebel. I believe this season is Spring Summer but there she goes using only black and white whereas, last seaon which was A/W, she had little pops of colours. You wold have thought the opposite right? Well, not Phoebie. Secondy, is that Kalico I spot her using? It requires a lot of bravery and individuality to pull Kaliko, or Kaliko looking fabric (Whatever it may be) Or maybe its just more economical? There was something very organic about the show, probably because of the choice of fabric or the crispy and rafia like details.

The only problem I had with the show in general was that The Black Kalico Absorbed the flash in the wrong way and I couldnt get great photos. The catwalk arrangement was also a bit funny.

Like the collection? don't like it? Let me know and tell me why.

Street Style Pictures of Meeee During London Fashion Week

I don't understand why I look somewhat greenish in this picture, but it was on the EveningStandard website, so I thought what the hell. See their full post here

I decided I'd put up all the street style pictures I stumbled upon on the internet/people showed me. There might be others, but I haven't come across them yet. I've posted a couple before but I just wanted a little catalogue of all of them together :)

Bernard Chandran

Unlike many other collections, the beauty of these clothes didn't lie in their vibrant colours or their flamboyant prints because more work was put into the cuts, shapes, styles and embellishment. I made all the pictures black and white so you guys might appreciate it and understand my interpretation more rather than getting distracted by any other aspects like the colours.

Dans La Vie (Full A/W 12 collection)

I've not got a lot of collections left to post on shows so, they'll be gone soon and it'll back to normal stuff. Apologies to those of you who don't appreciate my slowness.

Check out this cool video i spotted myself in. I'm the one in the bright red jumper, beanie and I'm acting like I've never seen shoes before. WATCH FROM 2:16
