Funnily enough, this outfit was inspired by 'The new look' which Dior introduced from 1947 up until the 50's. I've been having a bit of an obsession with that era so it's only right that I am inspired by it. The women of that time inspired me so much because they had the guts to try out something so (at that time) extra ordinary. The second World War had just ended and all they were used to were utility clothes and losing sons and husbands. I think what Dior did for those women was incredible because not only did he make their lives bearable again, he showed them a way of seeing beauty in a world that was filled with so much destruction and disappointment. As superficial as this may sound because to some its 'just fashion' it is what happened and just like any other form of art, it affects some of us. Don't forget the fact that back then, one of the most important responsibilities of a woman was to look good. You could say that the power of a woman lied in the way she looked. I'm just happy that we now live in a more equal world even though people still scream about inequality between male and female but imagine a world were you had to ask a man for permission every time you left your home. Fair enough, we all deserve to be treated equally but yet, these women lived through it while also fighting for us and going about their business. I know things are not perfect now, but we should all just take it one day at a time because the truth is that things will never be perfect.
My theory is that there always has to be a superior group within all aspects of society. Gender, race, class. I'f you don't agree with me then thats fine.
.......and now I don't even know what I'm on about or how I got here.
Just had to get that off my chest. And I wore these boots because it was too cold to put on pumps. :-)
More pictures after the jump.
It's all snowed up in the U.K now and every year, I do the same thing annoy everyone else because of how joyous snow makes me. How can you hate it. It's white, cute, fluffy and allows us to miss school/work.
And um, snow angels..... HELOOOOO.
I was coming back from a party last night and almost got attacked by snow warriors. I promise you, my exact words were
"Please don't, I beg". After I said that, I had to ask myself, where did the ninja wunmi go.
My normal self would have dared them.
Snow brings out my mushy side I guess.
